Name: Igraine Desmarais Date of Birth (Age): 10 Eluviesta, 9:07 (38) Race: Human Class: Warrior (Bastion, Sword and Shield, Vanguard) Occupation: Warden-Commander of Orlais Summary: Igraine's parents were merchants, they never wanted for money. When she was younger, they had dreams of marrying her off to a noble, she only had dreams of fighting. She learned the sword on her own at first, making do with sticks and playing at swords with the local boys. Some of them were learning the ways of the sword, and their lessons trickled down to her in bits and pieces. It was only after the Blight that she finally came forward and begged her parent to let her learn...and it was only then that they let her. After that, her dream was much more focused. She only wanted to be a Grey Warden, a hero of the Blight! She begged the Grey Wardens to let her join when she was but 19, but they put off her Joining until she was nearly 22. It was then that she got her first real understanding of what it meant to be a Warden. It was only then she realized what she had to give up, without even being told that she was giving it up. Still, she devoted herself to doing the Warden's work. Because of that, when the previous Warden-Commander passed on, she was elevated to his position at age 31. With her training in the ways of society as a child, she is highly skilled at navigating the Nobility, and understands the Grand Game. She is considered fair, if a bit distant of a leader, and only recently has there been cause for complaint. Igraine handed over her Mage Wardens to the Chantry following the demands of the Divine. Name: Kate Dunne Date of Birth (Age): 24 Race: Elf Class: Rogue Occupation: Trap Maker Summary: Kate has worked her way up from the street, and although she hasn't risen very far yet, she is no longer living on it. Another urchin living on the streets, she learned her early lessons from ungracious humans walking by and the other kids in her situation. Her life changed forever when she was twelve, trying to lock-pick her way inside a workshop to steal. It was run by a grumpy dwarf with a skill for making traps, and finding her there, he decided to take mercy on her, instead of throwing her to the guards. He taught her much of what she knew, and she moved on to others who taught her many other things as well. With the skills she had learnt and the money she had collected she bought a stall to sell her traps at the market place in Denerim. A few years later she began touring Ferelden, selling her wares in Highever and Amranthine. When the tournament is announced at Vigil's keep, Kate found the thought of it exciting and decided to attend, for the glory, the money and possibly the chance of being a Grey Warden. That ought to be as far as a common street urchin could rise after all. Kate is a quietly determined person, setting her goals high and working to get there. She is not talkative or trusting, but wary of strangers. She is not timid though, and knows herself to be a competent trap-maker and fighter. Played by: Julia Ormond |
Name: Fiona Mulrooney Date of Birth (Age): 12 Ferventis, 9:25 (20) Race: Human Class: Mage Occupation: Circle Mage Summary: Fiona came to the circle when she was seven years old, when her magic was first discovered. Because of this, she did not witness the horror of Uldred's decision and has instead heard only second-hand tales. She was a dedicated student with a natural gift for magic, and this is the reason why she was chosen to go to the tournament on behalf of the Circle. She can come off a bit snobbish at times, but in reality she is just used to being naturally good at whatever has been placed before her. She has heard of the Wardens and admits a deep interest in their Order, especially in learning that mages can join them and live freely of the tower. However, she would be the first to admit she has not been treated poorly there. Played by: Keisha Castle-Hughes |
Name: Martin Tanner Date of Birth (Age): 49 Race: Human Class: Warrior Occupation: Potter, Former mercenary Summary: Martin Tanner spent a adventurous youth as a mercenary, making his money from fighting for whoever paid the best. When he met his wife, Alis, he promised her to settle down, and became a potter in the bustling city of Denerim. Distracted by his wife and the bustle of the city, rather than his work, they spent a pleasant and happy life together. The only burden of their hardworking lives was the fact that they never had children. When a sudden disease took Alis away from him, Martin no longer had any joy left in his life. He had his work, his friends, the bustle of the city, but none of it brought him any pleasure anymore. Deciding that he needs a new purpose, a good cause to serve, he decides to try and join the Grey Wardens, where his skill might be put to good use. He figures that, should he die, the maker will let him meet his wife again. Martin is steadfast, slow to anger and dependable, but some might say he is too steady - almost slow - and that he trusts too much. A quiet man, he prefers to speak only when he has something to say, and although he sometimes finds life funny or thinks of a little joke, he seldom speaks it aloud. He does speak up against evil and sin, and when he has set his mind, there is no changing him. All his life he has worshipped the Maker and Andraste in his own uncomplicated way, and although Alis death might have given rise to confusion and anger towards the gods, Martin is calmly convinced that he will see her again. Like many other citizens of Denerim, he despises elves and finds foreigners a uncommonly stupid lot. Played by: John Lynch |
Name: Linn Flannghaile Date of Birth (Age): 34 Race: Human Class: Rogue Archer Occupation: Spinster Summary: A person can have a lot of time for thinking about life and what one wants to do. Linn has had 35 years, and she considers that a decade too much. She is not bitter about her lot in life, but she’d rather not live with her younger sister and her brood of children anymore. Since she has never been afraid to get dirty, she tries finding work as a mercenary, but none of the companies will have her, saying she is too old, too female or not at all trained. Brimming with determination, she finds a retired soldier willing to train her with the bow, if she cooks his meals and washes his cloths. Linn is defined mostly by her optimistic outlook on life and her determination to get things her own way. She cares little for the conventions of class, race, age or sex, but prefers to make up her own mind about everything. The result is not always pretty, because all the other people are rather used to said conventions and might not find it refreshing to be spoken to as ‘you over there’. In her own way, Linn is very self-absorbed, because what she cares the most for is her own will and desires. While all these things make her hot to handle, it’s also what what what what She will not knowingly do evil or mean things, and if she finds that anyone is peeved with her, she will apologize. While she has little interest in religion, she (mostly) respects that other people can find it important. After living in a house with six children, for many years, she has a startling habit of talking to herself. Played by: Kate Magowan |
Name: Cory Pentreath Date of Birth (Age):22 Race: Human Class: Warrior Occupation: Spoiled brat Summary: A younger son of a lesser noble has far too much time to read and practice with his sword. Common sense and a sense of proportions is more often missing, and in the case of Cory that is very much the case. Loved and appreciated for his pleasant personality and good humour, Cory is nevertheless very idealistic. Too much time spent cooped up in his fathers meagre library has given him a clear goal of what he wants to accomplish in life: he wants to be a Grey Warden. Not often a course encouraged with younger sons, Cory got away with it. Literally, because he left his home to seek out the adventure he wanted so dearly. Cory is what most people would call, 'a nice boy', but that is exactly the problem he has with the world. He is not interested in being called either 'nice', or 'boy', and has a long list of other suggestions, among them 'dashing' and 'adventurous' Still, he is nice and he is rather boyish, having led a rather sheltered life until recently. He will give his help to anyone asking, and leap gladly into a fight, even not knowing what caused it. While well versed in fairy tales, legends and war stories, the real world causes Cory some consternation; it being wetter, larger and less exciting than he had formerly believed.
